Shopping Centres and Energy

Do you like shopping? I live in a place where we have more shops per person than anywhere else in the world - Australia's Gold Coast, and yet I rarely go shopping. Why is this? Two reasons.

Reason One: I spent most of my life in a small town in Outback Australia where many things were just not available to buy. We had three choices: Go without, Travel 500 km to the nearest large town, or wait for the annual holidays and have a big shopping spree when we reached a city.

Reason two: Shopping Centres can be de-energizing.

Thousands of people visit every day and bring their problems along with them. Apart from physically imposing their moods on you, if you are spiritually aware you may pick up their energy. Become aware of how your energy feels when you are shopping, and notice the energy you pick up from different shopping centres and at different times of the day. If it is not a busy time the energy may seem more clear.

You can choose which shops you go to and at what time of the day. You can also choose to let others people's energy flow past you, or consciously let it go. Once you are aware, you won't have to take on unwanted negative energy.

Spread your own energy around the shopping centres. Greet the shop assistants and your fellow shoppers cheerfully and with a smile. Expand their energy as well as your own and shopping will become a pleasure.

Ebay has demonstrated just how much people enjoy auctions. In fact they find them downright energizing.

When I was a child we went to neighborhood auctions and bought useful or unusual items. My dad was a handyman and an inventor so he was always looking for something to convert into something else.

But one of his most unusual auction purchases was a dozen homing pigeons.

Dad built a pigeon coop and set about teaching the birds how to fly home. He never quite mastered the art and the pigeons were slow learners so the novelty soon wore off and he moved on to other things.

The subject of auctions came up when I was at a friend’s social gathering where one of the guests was an auctioneer.

My friend Glenda related a story about how she had once purchase, for just two hundred dollars, a batch of store mannequins and their spare body parts. She and her son assembled as many of the mannequins as they could and had fun arranging them in the backyard, draped on the garden furniture and lounging on the lawn. Glenda didn’t really know how she was going to sell the mannequins but miraculously she received a phone call from a lady from Rarotonga (NZ) who had heard about them and was keen to buy. She purchased the lot for two thousand dollars giving Glenda a sizeable profit on her risky quirky investment.

The process of turning pre-loved items into cash can be totally energizing.

Energy is all around us, and within us.
Life is Energy and Energy is life.

'If you can't do what you love, love what you are doing.'This might sound like a riddle, but it's really a fundamental secret to being energized. It all comes down to choice. We can choose to enjoy, or choose to endure. And if we find ourselves simply enduring something we can choose to change it. We live in a free country - A 'Lucky Country' if you live in Australia.

What are you choosing? Are you staying in a job, a relationship, or a home because you are afraid of what you will lose if you change any of them? Just turn it around and think of what you may be losing or missing by not changing.

The only criterion for choosing something is, 'Does it energize me? or Does it de-energize me?'
Do a check of your life, and discover the things in it that de-energize you. Reduce them, or dispense with them altogether.

Then look for all the things that energize you. Add them into your life, or if they are there already, do more.
