What Creates Energy, and How Can You Have More?Observing babies and young children gives us an idea of how energy and happiness are related. Watch a baby smiling or laughing and you will see his whole body moving; his arms and legs wave about and he seems to tingle all over with pure delight. The energy of the young is often expressed in activity. On the other hand, lack of activity, such as excessive television watching, can create lethargy even in small children. I have observed this lack of energy in people of all ages. A few times I have also gone through stages of lethargy and lack of energy myself, but now I find it easy to regenerate energy, and rejuvenate myself. Rejuvenate means to 'make young again'. By observing children you can discover more ways to energize yourself so that you will become more youthful with natural vitality. Being able to energize yourself when you are feeling lethargic will give you a powerful tool to enrich your life, create more happiness, and regain your youth. What’s more, if you have children you will demonstrate to them by example that energy can be generated easily. Read more in The Energy Book For Life I began my new study of Energy by asking other people two questions - 'What energizes you? and What de-energizes you?. The answers surprised me. Every day we hear much about food and nutrition and its importance in providing energy. I have experienced the energizing and rejuvenating effect of good nutrition myself. This helped me overcome breast cancer, 'incurable' osteo-arthritis, sciatica and other health problems. I
thought many would put good nutrition first as an energizer, but few
did. Even some people who work in the nutrition industry chose something
else as their number one energizer.
Some said good nutrition gave them energy to do the other energizing
things they love to do. The
variety of the answers to the questions was amazing. Some of the answers
were: music, singing, dancing, the beach or rainforest, looking at
a beautiful view, creativity and completing things.
God or other spiritual sources were featured, as well as the weather
and good nutrition. Everybody knew what I meant when I asked 'what energizes you?' and only a few were not able to find an answer. What is your Number One energizer? Ask others.. Read more about it in The Energy Book for Life It's probably easier to understand how you experience energy by looking at how you feel when you lack it. When you lack energy you may feel constantly tired, lethargic, sleepy, depressed, sad, flat, frustrated, as though you are beating your head against a brick wall, foggy unclear mind, unwell, dragging yourself around, unmotivated, not wanting to get out of bed, memory loss, inability to concentrate, overwhelmed, confused, incapable, stupid, trapped, beaten, frustrated, headachy, a victim. Your feelings of energy will be the opposite of those mentioned above. The
diverse responses I received about how people experienced energy were: A feeling of comfort, a perception of joy and peace, grounded and integrated, high as a kite, happy, a spacey feeling, like in a space warp, euphoric, joyousness, happiness, child-like curiosity, a feeling like you can do anything or be anything.
Where does the expression 'getting a buzz' come from? Is it related to the feeling of energy you might get with a mild electric shock? When I worked in a new school with synthetic carpets and metal strips around the blackboards I found my body picked up so much static electricity that when I touched the edge of the blackboard I would see sparks from my fingers, and the shock created nausea. It certainly gave me a 'buzz'. The students capitalized on this static electricity by rubbing their feet on the carpet and giving other children a shock by touching them. We have expressions in our language that describe electrical energy in our bodies as a 'shock'. We say 'It was a shock to receive the bad news' or it was 'a shock to the system', suggesting the whole body was shocked. We say 'the news was shocking'. Electrical energy produced naturally in the body by natural energy highs and natural vitality is a pleasurable sensation. I would love to hear about how you experience energy.
